What Does Counselling Feel Like?
If you’re considering counselling, it’s completely natural to wonder what sessions will actually feel like.
In our work together, sessions are primarily conversational. I’ll listen closely to what you share, reflect things back, and ask gentle questions to help us explore your experiences, patterns, and inner world more deeply.
As we begin to get to know your internal landscape, we may explore the different “parts” of you - noticing how they show up in your thoughts, emotions, and body.
I might ask questions like:
What are you noticing in your body right now?
Does this feeling have a shape, sensation, or quality?
What feels most present in this moment?
I also bring attention to the connection between emotions and the body. Together, we can build awareness of how your experiences live in your body, and practice ways of safely staying present with them.
At times, we may slow things down and incorporate grounding or regulation practices, depending on what feels supportive for you.
My role is to meet you with curiosity, care, and compassion - and to create a space where all parts of you are welcome, even the ones that may feel confusing, overwhelming, or hard to share.
You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin.
We can start exactly where you are.
